Select clients: Department of State, USDA, Library of Congress, Maryland Paid Family and Medical Leave Program

  • Oversaw UX design, research, writing, and strategy for highly collaborative, cross-functional teams for federal agency clients.
  • Produced robust service blueprints and actionable user research for the Department of State to improve the passport adjudication process for staff and citizens.
  • Defined the new strategic vision for the Library of Congress’ innovation team, to build internal human-centered design capacity to deliver enriching and engaging programs to the American public.
  • Directed and managed a division-wide content strategy community of practice for 18 months, curating speakers, facilitating meetings, and cultivating a welcoming, educational space for colleagues to develop professional skills.

  • Created and taught custom, hands-on classes in user experience design, research, and agile design methodologies to hundreds of civil servants across the federal government.
  • Integrated adult learning principles into class curriculum and instruction to produce effective and memorable learning experiences.
  • Coached civil servants in high-touch, 1:1 sessions to unblock their user research and service delivery work.

  • Piloted a grassroots digital communications program to enable a state government to produce responsive, community-led messaging for immigrant residents. 
  • Directed qualitative research efforts, led message and usability testing, collaborated with local influencers on talking points, and turned results into a repeatable process for state partners.

Product Design Lead • Aug – Nov 2020

  • Led the rapid design of voter outreach products to engage new and infrequent voters.
  • Created wireframes, wrote product copy, led usability testing, and delivered high-fidelity user flows and designs for developer handoff. 
  • Shipped quality products on tight timelines, balancing the needs of internal stakeholders with solid UX principles to deliver compelling get-out-the-vote products worthy of a historic presidential campaign.
